The Lake Villa District Library offers the following equipment and services:
- Computers with Internet Access
There are 12 computers in the Gridley Lab, 4 computers in the Youth Lab and 3 Xpress computers. All have Internet access and Microsoft Office 2003 (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher and PowerPoint).
- Wireless Internet Access
Visitors with a laptop computer that has a Wi-Fi compliant (801.11 b/g) wireless adapter can access the Internet utilizing the library's public wireless network.
- Microfiche Reader and Printer
This machine is capable of reading microfilm (on reels) and microfiche. It can be used to print or to scan these documents to a usb flash drive (users must bring their own flash drives). Ask at the Adult Reference Desk to get started.
- Study Rooms
There are three study rooms (capacity of two people per study room). Two study rooms have a computer with Microsoft Office 2003 software but no Internet access. Study rooms cannot be reserved. Visitors may request a study room at the Adult Reference Desk.
- Computer Coaching
Volunteer staff can provide one-on-one training in basic computer skills as well as tutoring on common software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You can print a Coaching request form and drop it off at the Circulation Desk, pick-up a request form at the Adult Reference desk or leave your name and number with the Volunteer Coordinator (847-356-7711 ext. 237).
