Sophie Kinsella
Bridget Jones’ Diary, The Devil Wears Prada, Sex and The City – another classic chic lit novel is making a jump to the big screen in February. It’s Confessions of a Shopaholic, and its author, Sophie Kinsella, is our January author.
Shopaholic follows the humorous adventures of Becky Bloomwood, a financial journalist who seems to be singlehandedly keeping the British fashion economy afloat, to her stylish but personal ruination.
Kinsella has 5 books in the Shopaholic series and 4 stand-alone novels. She also has 7 stand-alone novels under her real name, Madeleine Wickham.
Kinsella was in fact herself a financial journalist before she began writing. Hm. “I can't help but put myself into my heroines. While I may be a tad more controlled than Becky, I do love to shop,” Kinsella said in an interview. “And I do mentally itemize my clothes before I go out, just in case a magazine reporter stops me to ask.”
Five fun facts about Kinsella from her personal website:
